Backsliding

  • Deut 4; 9      But watch out! Be very careful never to forget what you have seen God doing for you.  May His miracles have a deep and permanent effect upon your lives! Tell your children and your grandchildren about the glorious miracles he did.
  • Marc 8; 38    And anyone who is ashamed of me and my message in these days of unbelief and sin, I, the Messiah, will be ashamed of him when I return in the glory of my Father, with the holy angels.
  • Luke 15; 6, 7   When you arrived you would call together your friends and neighbours to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found.  Well in the same way, heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who haven’t strayed away!

 Blessing

  • Acts 20; 32    And now I entrust you to God and his care and to his wonderful words which are able to build your faith and give you all the inheritance of those who are set apart for himself.
  • Philippians 4; 6, 7  Don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank Him for his answers.  If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is farm ore wonderful that the human mind can understand His peace will keep y our thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

 Children

  • Psalm 127; 3    Children are a gift from God; they are his reward.
  • Prov 17; 6   An old man’s grandchildren are his crowing glory. A child’s glory is his father.
  • Matt 19; 14, 15    But Jesus said, “Let the little ones come to me, and don’t prevent them. For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. And he put his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.

 Church

  • Col, 3; 11    In this new life, one’s nationality or race or education or social position is unimportant; such things mean nothing. Whether a person has Christ is what matters and he is equally available to all.
  • Col 3;15   Let the peace of heart which comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body. And always be thankful.

  Conscience

  • Matt 6; 22, 23      If your eye is pure, there will be sunshine in your soul.  But if your eye is clouded with evil thoughts and desires, you are in deep spiritual darkness. And oh, how deep that darkness can be!
  • Titus 1;15    A person who is pure of heart sees goodness and purity in everything; but a person whose own heart is evil and untrusting finds evil in everything, for his dirty mind and rebellious heart colour all he sees and hears.

 Contentment

  • Hebrews 13; 5  Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have.  For God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you. That is why we can say without any doubt or fear, “The Lord is my Helper and I am not afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.”
  • Galatians 5, 24-26    those who belong to Christ, have nailed their natural evil desires to his cross and crucified them there.  If we hare living now by the Holy Spirit’s power, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Then we won’t need to look for honours and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings.       

 Courage

 Despondency

  • Prov 13; 12     Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true at last, there is life and joy.
  • Psalm 77; 7-14  has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be favourable? Is his loving kindness gone forever? Has his promise failed? Has he forgotten to be kind to one so undeserving? Has he slammed the door in anger on his love? And I said “This is my fate that the blessings of God have changed to hate.  I recall the many miracles he did for me so long ago.  Those wonderful deeds are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about them.  O God, your ways are holy.  Where is there any other as mighty as you? You are the God of miracles and wonders.  You still demonstrate your awesome power.

 Faith

  • Psalm 118; 8     It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
  • Prov 3; 5   Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on y our own understanding.

 Faithfulness

  • Psalm 91, 1, 2   It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your Name, O Most High, to declare Your loving kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night.
  • Psalm 103;17    But the mercy of the Lord is form everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him; and His righteousness to children’s children.

 Fellowship

  • John 13; 34    a new commandment I give you; that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

 Forgiveness

  • Prov 24; 17     Do not rejoice when your enemy falls and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles.  Do not say, I will do to him just s he has done to me I will render to the man according to his work.
  • Matt.6;14     For if you forgive men their trespasses against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.

 Friendship

  • Prov 18; 24   a man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
  • Amos 3; 3      Can two walk together, unless they agree?

 Grief

  • Psalm 30; 5…  Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30; 11    you have turned for me my mourning into dancing, you have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.

Access to God

  • Ps 145; 18  The Lord is near to all who call upon Him.  To all who call upon Him in truth.

John 14; 6   Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”

  • James 4; 8    Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded.

 God, the Creator

  • Gen 1; 1      in the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.
  • Gen 1; 16     Then God said, “Let us make man in our Own image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
  • Gen 1; 27   So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; m ale and female He created them.

 God’s Grace

  • Eph 2;8    For by grace  you have been saved, by  having faith in God, and that faith is not from yourselves, but is a gift from God.

 God’s  holiness

  • Ex. 15; 11   who else is like the Lord among the gods? Who is glorious in holiness like him? Who is so awesome in splendour, a wonder-working God?
  • Lev. 11; 44a    For I am the lord your God, You shall therefore sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy, for I am holy.

 God’s love

  • John 3; 16    For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  • Rom 8; 31    What then shall we say to these things? If God be fore us, who can be against us?

 Sovereignty of God

  • Psalm 93; 3, 5 For the lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.  In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also.  The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
  • Rom 14; 11  For it is written, as I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

 Happiness

  • Prov 16; 20     He who heeds the word wisely will find good and whoever t rusts in the Lord, happy is he.

 Heaven

  • John 14, 2-3    In My Father’s house are many  mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

 Honesty

  • Prov 11; 1     a false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.
  • Luke 6; 31      And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them.

 Hope

  • Psalm 31;24        Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.
  • Psalm 71; 14      But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more.

 Humility

  • Prov 15;33   The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honour is humility
  • Prov 27; 2    Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth, a stranger, and not your own lips.

 Judgement

  • Ps 9; 7     But the Lord shall endure for ever; He has prepared His throne for judgement.
  • Matt 12; 36    But I say to you, that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement.

Kindness

  • Matt 5; 42   Give to him who asks from you and from him who wants to borrow from you do not withhold.

Life

  • Psalm 103; 14, 16  For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust; as for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.  For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

Marriage

  • Gen 2; 24    therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
  • Mark 10-; 9   Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.

 Morality

  • Psalm 24; 3, 5   Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?  Or who may stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lift up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive blessings fro the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

 Old Age

  • Isaiah 46; 4      Even to your old age, I am He and even to grey hairs I will carry you!  I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry and will deliver you.

 Patience

  • Psalm 37; 7, 8  Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret – it only causes harm.

 Prayer

  • Psalm 145; 18  The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him with a sincere heart.
  • 1Tim 2; 8    Therefore, I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Praise

  • Ps 34; 1      I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
  • Psalm 100; 4  enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name.

 Pride

  • 1 Cur 10; 12     Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
  • Jams 4; 6     God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

 Repentance

 Resurrection

  • Ps 49; 15      But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me.
  • 2 Cor 4;14     Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us to God.

 Rewards

  • Rev 22; 12   And behold, I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

 Salvation

  • Acts 4; 12   nor is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
  • Eph 2; 8       For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

 Selfishness

  • 1 Cor 10;24      Let no man seek his own, but each one the others well being.
  • 1 John 3; 17   But whoever has this worlds goods and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?    

Sex

  • Matt 5;27,28     You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery, But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to  lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  • Gen 2;24,25   Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
  • Prov 2,16   To deliver  you from the immoral woman/man, from the seductress/seducer who flatters with words, who forsakes the companion of their youth and forgets the covenant of their God, for their house leads down to death and their paths to the dead, none who go to them return, nor do they regain the paths of life.

 Sin

  • Isaiah 1;18      Come now, let us reason together says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
  • Romans 5, 12-15   When Adam sinned; sin entered the entire human race.  His sin spread death throughout al the world, so everything began to grow old and die.  For all sinned.  We know that it was Adam’s sin that caused this, because although of course, people were sinning from the time of Adam until Moses, God did not in those days judge them guilty of death for breaking his laws – because he ha dot yet given his laws to them, nor told them what he wanted them to do.  So when their bodies died it was not for their own sins since they themselves had never disobeyed God’s special law against eating the forbidden fruit, as Adam had.  What a contrast between Adam and Christ who was yet to come!  And what a difference between man’s sin and God’s forgiveness! For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin, but this one man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God’s mercy.

 Temptation

  • Prov 1; 10     my son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
  • 2 Peter 2; 9    then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgement.

 Truth

  • John 14;6    Jesus said to him, “I am the way the truth and the life, No man can come to the Father, except through me.”
  • 3 Jon 4    I have no grater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

 Word of God

  • John 1;14    And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth
  • Ps 33;4    For the word of the lord is right, and all His work is done in truth

 Worship

  • Psalm 95;6   Oh come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
  • Phil 2, 10-11     That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
