Though the grand and historic event of Calvary has passed from the view of the
world, all its wonder and glory live on in the hearts and lives of those saints
who identify with its message. God’s
gift to us at Calvary causes us to meditate and wonder upon His goodness.
As we examine scripture, we are made aware of what victories were brought
to us at Calvary. These are
wonderful victories, wonderful miracles of salvation for each of us.
Let’s
look at the 3 wonders of Salvation in the life of the Believer.

First: There’s the Wonder of
Redemption!
This is the work of the Son
The word
“redeem”,
“redeemed”,
and
“redemption”
appear 138x
in the Old and New Testaments.
Redemption is the theme of the Bible.
(American Heritage Dictionary)
-
The word redeemed means “to recover the ownership of something by paying a
specified sum; to turn in and to receive something in exchange.”
Redeemer
There would be no redemption without a redeemer.
This word appears 18x (the number of righteousness) in the Bible (OT
only). Job spoke of his Redeemer in
19:25:
“For
I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon
the earth:”
Redemption could not come until the cause of bondage was dealt with.
Jesus first judged the prince of this world and spoiled principalities
and powers before a victorious redemption could become effective (Col. 2:15).
What good would redemption be if our foe was not defeated?
We could never...
...resist the devil to the point that he flee from us
...have the whole armor of God to quench all his fiery darts (Eph.
6:11-17)
...be more than conquerors (Rom. 8:37)
Notice that God did not provide coats of skin for Adam and Eve until He first
pronounced judgment upon that old serpent, Satan (Gen. 3:9-21).
The Passover and its redemption was not instituted until after the
judgment of the plagues against Pharaoh.
Our redemption was established when Christ defeated Satan and came forth
from the grave with the keys of hell and of death (Rev. 1:18).
